Why we are here
Transforming Telford has been set up as part of the Telford & Wrekin Local Area Agreement (LAA) with the Government. The primary objective of the LAA is the long-term transformation of Telford to create a strong and sustainable community and to enable Telford to fulfil its wider role as a sub-regional focus for growth.
The Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) required new delivery structures to manage the transformation agenda. In addition, the Agreement gave a substantially enhanced regeneration programme of activity to address LSP priorities as set out in the Community Strategy.
Transforming Telford is responsible for the local Economic Development Strategy and will directly support and help to facilitate its implementation through the Telford Economic Development Partnership.
We will also be instrumental in the development of a City Region by contributing to the growth of the Region’s GDP and the developing business plan. Transforming Telford will also play a vital role in economic growth, increasing jobs and improving quality of life as set out in the Sustainable Communities Plan.
All Transforming Telford work sits in-line with the Regional Economic Strategy (RES) and all activities relate to the Regional Spatial Strategy for the West Midlands, the Regional Housing Strategy and the UK Urban Renaissance Policy.
