Transforming Telford Appoints New Development Director

Transforming Telford, the economic regeneration company for Telford and Wrekin is strengthening its team with the appointment of Alan Bishop as Director of Development.

Mr Bishop, previously Development Manager for Birmingham City Council, will oversee the development of Transforming Telford’s major projects. This includes the exciting multi-million pound re-development of the town centre that will bring thousands of new jobs; help to improve the town’s image, attract new retail and commercial investment, increase visitor levels and help generate an “18 hour economy” with a wider range of leisure facilities.

He brings with him vast experience in the regeneration sector, with over 10 years experience in economic regeneration in the Midlands.  Most recently he was involved in the re-development of Masshouse Circus and progressing the Eastside Initiative in Birmingham.

Sarah Raper, Chief Executive of Transforming Telford said: “We are delighted to have Alan on board.  He is well-known in the industry and has a strong knowledge of the region, occupiers, developers and investors and as such has the relevant skills to help drive our vision forward.”

Mr Bishop said: “I'm really looking forward to the challenge. Transforming Telford has an impressive vision and is making significant progress in shaping the future landscape of Telford and the surrounding area.

“I hope to enhance the organisations ability to deliver and spearhead change.  There are real opportunities here and I am keen to work with partners and ensure that we provide deliverable development packages.”
