The Jewel in Shropshire's Crown on Show in New Guide
14th February 2007
The Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage site will feature in a new visitors guide for 2007 launched by Telford & Shropshire Marketing Partnership (TSMP).
The new 66 page Telford and Ironbridge Gorge Visitor Guide 2007 highlights the best places to visit in Telford and the surrounding area, with top tips on places to eat and drink and things to see and do.
The complimentary guide is designed to provide residents and visitors with essential information on family attractions, entertainment, sport and leisure, restaurant listings together with comprehensive accommodation including caravan and camping, self catering cottages, guesthouses, up to 4* hotels and inns.
Anne Wolstenholme, Director of Business and Investment, Transforming Telford said: “Tourism is really important to the local
economy with Shropshire attracting over 11 million visitors a year. We are therefore delighted to be providing people with the information they need to go out and enjoy what Telford and the surrounding area has to offer.
“There are a wealth of opportunities for residents and visitors alike and the recent £10m grant awarded to develop the flagship visitor attraction ‘Blists Hill’, within Ironbridge Gorge will ensure that the area will flourish and continue to provide visitors with great facilities to learn about the country’s industrial heritage.”
2007 also marks the 250th anniversary of the birth of the brilliant engineer, Thomas Telford. Also highlighted in the guide is a wide range of events that will be taking place throughout the year, including those celebrating the work of the great man in and around the town that was named after him.
