Sustainability Seminar to Help Shropshire Companies Profit from Using Less

The event, hosted by Envirowise and the Business Environmental Support Scheme for Telford (BESST), is being held at the Mercure Albrighton Hall Hotel, Shrewsbury on Thursday 7th February between 8am and 10.30am. It is open to all local businesses across all sectors looking to improve their environmental performance in 2008.

Featuring guest speakers from resource efficiency specialists Envirowise and BESST, attendees will be given practical tips and advice on how to improve the environmental footprint of their business and cut back on unnecessary overheads. Presentations will focus on helping businesses manage the behavioural change needed to implement a long term sustainability plan.

Companies that attend will also hear representatives from two Shropshire companies – Telford Extrusions and Denso Manufacturing UK – about their experiences in implementing environmental change. Mark Simmons, Director at Simmonsigns and Vice Chair of BESST says ‘This is a fantastic opportunity to highlight the business benefits of resource efficiency. A number of local companies are extremely aware of their environmental impact, allowing us to share and extend our BESST practice across the region.’

John Barraclough, West Midlands Regional Manager for Envirowise, says: “This is a perfect opportunity for businesses in the region to start the New Year as they mean to go on. Whilst the prospect of implementing environmental measures may seem like a daunting one this seminar will demonstrate how putting simple but effective plans in place can make a significant impact on a company’s bottom line. And with consumers becoming increasingly eco-conscious, the need for businesses to improve their environmental credentials has never been more pressing.”

The Business Environmental Support Scheme for Telford is a partnership between local and private sector businesses aided by funding from Envirowise and managed by Transforming Telford. The Group forms part of a network of Resource Efficiency Clubs across the region endeavouring to raise awareness of the benefits of environmental projects.
