New homes offer great value for money and traditional areas in the surrounding villages offer a variety of housing to suit all tastes. Identified as a main growth point within the West Midlands Regional Spatial Strategy around 20,000 new homes are set to be built over the next 20 years.
With a housing market that has consistently performed well above both regional and national averages, Telford’s reputation as a housing hotspot is likely to continue given the predicted growth and sustained programme of renewal. In spite of high growth rates, average house prices in Telford are still below the regional average.
Major new housing developments already underway include Ironstone at Lawley, East Ketley Millennium Community and Lightmoor Urban Village.
With an excellent education service and a distinguished record in innovation and forward thinking the area has many outstanding schools. These include the Thomas Telford School which is consistently ranked at the top of the UK’s performance tables and the Hadley Learning Community which is a new £70 million development that provides education in three phases as well as extensive community facilities for sport, the arts and life-long learning.
Telford further education establishments include Telford College of Arts and Technology (TCAT) one of the top performing colleges in the UK and New College which specialise in providing an excellent all round education for full-time 16-19 year olds.
Higher education facilities include the £30 million University of Wolverhampton Telford Campus that includes the University of Wolverhampton Business School and Harper Adams University College set in prime agricultural land it is the UK's premier specialist provider of Higher Education for land and food based industries.
Telford is home to the Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) and local facilities in the main district centres offer both doctor and dentist surgeries.
