Telford and the surrounding area attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year offering something to suit every taste and interest.
The area boasts quality hotels, wonderful restaurants and historic places like the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site in an idyllic setting. Along with the Severn Valley Railway, Weston Park, RAF Museum Cosford and Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom the Ironbridge Gorge Museums are one of Shropshire’s Top 5 attractions.
Each year more than 300,000 business tourists attend 5,000 events in Telford and Shropshire, many of which take place at the Telford International Centre one of the UK’s top conference venues situated in the heart of the town.
Telford is also home to one of the regions best
shopping centres - one of the UK's top 10. Built under one roof over a
50-acre site Telford Shopping Centre has 160 stores on 100,000 sq m (1
million sq ft) of space. These include Beatties - a House of Fraser
store, Debenhams, Marks & Spencer, TopShop, Monsoon, H&M and
Zara.
The town centre offers entertainment for all the family with a Cinema, Ten Pin Bowling, Ice Rink and Telford’s award-winning Town Park and Wonderland. Combining all the leisure and fun facilities you would expect to find in a traditional town park with all the informality of a country park over 170 hectares.
Telford and Wrekin is also home to historical market towns and district centres that offer the local community and visitors to the area a wide range of amenities. Wellington, in North Telford is over 760 years old and Newport in the Wrekin part of the borough was itself planned as a new town in the 12th century.
4 miles west of Telford lies the Wrekin, a prominent and well known landmark in Shropshire that rises to a height of 407m (1335ft) and on a good day some 15 counties can be seen from the summit.
